Work Hive Member Hosts Film Festival In New York City

Work Hive member Taylor Pendleton (in photo, middle) works for Moment, a company that offers epic photography and film accessories for your smartphones as well as a photo app and travel opportunities during which you can enhance your photography and film skills.⁣⁣ Moment is dedicated to helping you improve your artistic expression through photography and film. As such, they offer three levels of products depending on your step in the creative journey:

  1. A camera app for any smartphone:  a one-stop shop app to take photos and videos and edit them all within the app.
  2. A whole slew of physical gear and accessories for any smartphones:  from lens attachments to tripods, Moment offers lots of options to enhance the quality of your image or video.
  3. Travel experiences: opportunities to join a group of fellow creatives and travel somewhere cool to keep augmenting your visual arts knowledge.

Moment prioritizes the inclusion of the communities at large in order to go beyond a strictly physical product retail company. As an example, their travel experiences can be pitched and led by anybody in the photography space around the world. Once the idea is pitched to Moment, the Moment team will announce and crowdfund it and, as long as a certain number of people sign up in a certain amount of time, the trip gets greenlit and fully funded by Moment. That way, like-minded individuals from all over the world can come together around the subject of photography and help each other become better at their respective crafts while experiencing beautiful environments.

Moment's commitment to community engagement is also evidenced by the creation of their very own Invitational Film Festival.

For the fourth year in a row, the Festival is taking place in New York City this Saturday, April 13th. ⁣⁣

Moment invited anyone in the world to create and submit 3 minute videos on the subject of their choice while falling into these five topics:

  1. Narrative
  2. Travel
  3. Experimental
  4. Mini Documentary
  5. How-to

From many submissions, the team selected fifteen finalists to be screened at the festival and to be eligible to win an assortment of cash prizes.
